Yesterday Ashley and I went into Melbourne (pronounced Mel-bun by the locals) to explore the city. Australia has a great train system, and it was really easy to figure out. We got to see ACMI- the Australian Center for the Moving Image, which is a huge complex with displays of animations and videos. There were exhibits where you could play dozens of brand new computer games for free, and make a stop-motion video of a penguin. :) It was lots of fun, but Ashley and I got a bit tired after a full day.
None of my pictures really turned out, except for these of the horse sculptures just outside the Australian Racing Museum.
Today I got my cell phone activated and called home. I've been a bit homesick these last few days, but it's hard to be sad when it's so beautiful out, and the Toohills are so much fun.
We went out to the movies and for dinner last night, which was a blast. They love to laugh, and they're wonderful people.
The only thing I've found undesirable in Australia so far (other than the Vegemite) is the spider I found in the living room today. Oh.... icky. It's a Huntsman, which you should look up, as I did, and know that it's perfectly harmless. It's utterly terrifying.
I'm going to run - hope you're all enjoying the cold!
